Although Fishburne Military School is between sessions, scores of young athletes are keeping campus buzzing this weeks as the school hosts youth athletics camps for Wrestling, Lacrosse, Soccer and Basketball.
Coach Terry Waters’ annual Wrestling Camp once again drew top names from the collegiate and olympic wrestling worlds to Waynesboro in order to pass along their expertise and, hopefully, inspire the next generation of great student-athletes.
On Monday alone, VA Tech Head Coach Tony Robie, VA Tech National Champ Mekhi Lewis, and VA NCAA Runner Up, Jack Mueller all held court and provided hands-on instruction for young wrestlers in grades 7-12.
Throughout the course of the week, two Olympic Champions, three college Head Wrestling Coaches, seven NCAA Champions and a number of All-American wrestlers will bring their talents and skills to the effort.
In addition to the star-studded lineup for the June Wrestling Camp, Fishburne Military School also welcomed NBA Trainer, Coach John Williams, to conduct a three-day basketball skills camp that has drawn great attention locally.
SOCA Augusta members and the Augusta Wolves Lacrosse program are also making good use of Fishburne Military School’s grounds and facilities as they host their soccer and lacrosse summer youth camps this week.

Celebrating 100 years as a US Army JROTC unit, Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built on the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS has been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation that is accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
